• Hello friends, on the night of 1st October, Israel’s sky looked like this.
  • More than 180 ballistic missiles were sent towards Israel, by Iran.

These weren’t fireworks; these were missiles.

More than 180 ballistic missiles were sent towards Israel, by Iran.

The order to launch these missiles was given directly by Iran’s Head of State and the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran’s IRGC, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a part of their army, said that more than 90% of the missiles successfully hit their target.

But on the other hand, Israel says that most of the missiles were intercepted by Israel’s air defence system.

The destruction caused by these missiles can be seen in many published images.

You can see these craters.

Look at this, a 30 feet deep crater.

A large Israeli military base was among the targets of the missiles.

Although Israel claims it suffered minimal damage in the attack, Prime Minister Netanyahu asserts that they will retaliate.

“Iran made a big mistake tonight. And it will pay for it. The regime in Iran does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and our determination to retaliate against our enemies.”

The biggest question here is:

Iran vs Israel How did Iran get involve in this war?

The war that began last year with Hamas’s attack has now spread to many countries.

Not only is Israel attacking Palestine, but it is also attacking Lebanon.

Many paramilitary groups and terrorist outfits like Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthis are involved in this war.

And now, a country like Iran is directly involved in it.

Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthis

It is true that many countries are involved in this war. If the situation continues to deteriorate like this, it could gradually escalate into a regional war in the Middle East.

However, calling it World War 3 is a big joke. Why do I say this? Because it is not the first time that Iran has attacked Israel this year. Only a few months ago, on April 13th, more than 300 drones and missiles were launched at Israel.

In terms of total machinery deployed, this April attack was larger than the October attack, which involved around 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles, and 110 ballistic missiles launched at Israel.

What was the reason behind Iran's attack?

Iran calls it revenge and retaliation.

Two weeks before that, around April 1st, Israel carried out an airstrike on Syria’s capital city, Damascus. In this airstrike, seven Iranian officers lost their lives, including a top general from the Iranian embassy.

Naturally, if any country’s army officers are killed, that country will not tolerate it. Here, Israel even dropped a bomb on the embassy.

So, the next question you may ask is: why did Israel carry out this airstrike? Israel claimed that it wasn’t an embassy but rather a military building, and the officer who died in the attack had close links to Hezbollah, according to Israel.

But before that, let’s review some technical details about Israel’s defense system.

When Israel was attacked in April, it received assistance from its allied countries, including the United States, the UK, and even Jordan. The United States intercepted approximately 80 drones and 6 ballistic missiles. The British Royal Air Force’s Typhoon fighter jets took down several drones, while Israel’s F-35 stealth fighter jets successfully intercepted 25 out of 30 cruise missiles.

The two nations are just over 1,000 kilometers apart. It would take almost two hours for Iran’s drone to reach its objective if it launched an assault on Israel. For this reason, a strong intelligence system is essential to a successful defense.

Range of Iran's Ballistic Missiles

  • Shahab 1: 300km (186 miles)
  • Fateh-110: 300-500km (186-310 miles)
  • Shahab 2: 500km (310 miles)
  • Zolfaghar: 700km (434 miles)
  • Qiam-1:750km (466 miles)
  • Shahab 3: 2,000km (1,242 miles)
Range of Iran's Ballistic Missiles

The Iron Dome is the most well-known of Israel’s ground defenses and systems. Within a 70-kilometer radius, it shields the sky up to 10 kilometers high. A missile launched from within this range can be successfully intercepted by the Iron Dome. Despite being referred to as a “dome,” it is not a real shield that surrounds Israel. Instead, it is a missile system that shoots its own rockets to intercept rockets before they can burst after detecting them before they reach the ground. The phrase interception, which you will often see in connected news, refers to this procedure.

Only short-range missiles can be intercepted by the Iron Dome. Israel has two more defensive systems for missiles fired from farther out. A medium- to long-range missile may be protected up to 15 km altitude within a 300 km radius using the David’s Sling. However, the Iron Dome and David’s Sling are ineffective against the ballistic missiles that Iran launched in its October strike since Iran is 1,000 kilometers distant.

Israel uses the Arrow System, a third defense system, to thwart such missiles. With the ability to identify threats up to 2,400 kilometers distant and at an altitude of 100 kilometers, Arrow 3 has the longest detection range in Israel. Even missiles fired from close to space can be detected by this technique. The video shows the Arrow 3 system intercepting a ballistic missile during the April strike. The video is very amazing, and this missile was outside the Earth’s atmosphere.

Despite their seeming security, these protection mechanisms are not infallible. The expense of these systems is their main weakness..
